In-Air Adventure Turns Regular People into Real Fighter Pilots
There’s hope and help for those who dream of becoming a Top Gun for the day. With more than a decade in service, Fighter Combat International (FCI) in Mesa, Arizona, offers the “Flight of a Lifetime” through adventures in air combat and aerobatics for individuals, teams and groups.
Unlike air combat simulation games such as Fighter Ace, Air Combat Patrol, Air to Air Combat and others, guests of FCI fly in the world’s
highest performance certified aerobatic aircraft. The facility is the only air combat school to exclusively employ real military fighter pilots, each with extensive operational experience in high-performance, fourth-generation fighter jet aircraft. A day with the fighter pilots includes modern air combat tactics, standards, training rules and techniques used by active NATO fighter forces around the world today.
Located on the northern flight line of Williams Gateway Airport, FCI headquarters consists of a 25,000-square-foot facility. The FCI team occupies and operates from the top level year around, Tuesday to Saturday inclusive.
From client reception to the spacious event hosting area characterized by a panoramic view of the airport’s three 10,000-foot runways and view of the Superstition Springs Mountains, the facility was custom designed specifically to host adventure clients in a first-class corporate environment.
On arrival at the FCI squadron, guests enter the world of air combat and are greeted b
y a professional staff, then introduced to their dedicated fighter pilot instructor. After meeting the FCI team, participants put on flight suits and receive their leather “Call Sign” patches to be worn and referred to for the entire day of activity. During the flight briefing, guests will study air combat tactics concepts, fighter pilot skills, air-to-air tactical air combat employment and flight safety.
Inside one of the two-seater acrobatic FCI planes, participants can either enter into combat or experience loops, rolls, tumbles, vertical climbs and dives, under mega-gravity forces. They may also find themselves in a dog fight at 7,000 feet and traveling at 250 miles per hour, using gunsights and smoke generators.
FCI’s fleet of German-built “Extra 300Ls” are world-class unlimited aerobatic aircraft. For the ultimate in realism, the Extras are specially equipped with a combat sound card to provide a true-to-life affect. The Extra is used by top aerobatic and air show performers world-wide and its abilities as a commercial dog-fighting machine are legendary.
The Extra is stressed to +/- 10G’s, has a roll rate of 360°/second, and a climb rate in excess of 3200 fpm, making it one of the safest and most capable aircraft in the sky.
In addition to Top Flight adventures, FCI offers comprehensive professional flight training for pilots of all experience levels, from the serious private pilot to the air transport rated commercial pilot or military test pilot.
