At the 2006 Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture gathering, Honda revealed plans to form a business alliance with Piper Aircraft, Inc. and announced plans to enter the innovative HondaJet in the growing very light jet market. Toward this goal, Honda began accepting sales orders in fall 2006, and is establishing a new U.S. company to hold FAA type certification and production certification. Honda’s goal is to complete type certification in about three or four years, followed by the start of U.S. production.
