While tradition may refer to Dr. Todd Holton as a cosmetic and family dentist, he prefers to describe his profession in a unique way. “We provide smile makeovers,” the doctor explains, adding that healthy teeth and gums make people feel better while improving their looks.

The “we” Dr. Holton refers to is his eight-member professional dental team, consisting of clinical assistants, dental hygienists, receptionist, office manager and clerical staff—most who have been with him for many years. Having created a culture of quality care and proficiency, patients of Holton Cosmetic & Family Dentistry are confident in the firm’s team approach to dentistry. “We are extremely meticulous in our work,” Dr. Holton says. “Our patients know that we back every procedure we do, whether we’re improving looks or the function of the teeth.”

As of 1998, Dr. Holton began attending post-graduate courses at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and San Francisco’s Pacific Aesthetic Continuum. Dr. Holton incorporates the latest technology using state-of-the-art dental equipment to perform general and advanced dentistry for all members of a family. And, to ensure people get the smiles they want, Dr. Holton uses computer imaging software that holds a library of smiles to provide previews of the finished work.

Dr. Holton’s smile enhancement specialties include teeth whitening using One-Hour Zoom, partial or full-mouth porcelain veneers, CEREC 3D one-visit crowns and dental bonding. He is also trained in neuromuscular dentistry designed to help alleviate headaches, neck and shoulder pain, jaw problems and ringing in the ears that may be caused by an improper bite or jaw relationship. “Our goal is to alleviate symptoms and do whatever’s necessary to position the jaw correctly,” Dr. Holton explains.

Neuromuscular dentistry usually begins with the fabrication of an orthotic, a removable appliance designed to align the jaw in a more comfortable position. Final treatment can range from bite adjustment (equilibration), orthodontics, limited or full mouth reconstruction. Though reconstruction is the most costly choice, the doctor notes that it is an excellent long-term investment for overall health.

No matter what the procedure, the team of Holton Cosmetic & Family Dentistry ensures that patients are comfortable, providing blankets, pillows and CD headsets that offer a variety of music to enjoy. For patients that are more anxious, nitrous oxide is available, as is oral sedation.

Patients of Holton Cosmetic & Family Dentistry live in southern Oregon, the Oregon Coast and Northern California. “Our services have evolved and we have grown as a practice through the years,” says Dr. Holton. “With a commitment to continued education, our promise to our patients is to remain on the cutting edge of dentistry and do our best to keep their smiles beautiful.” ■
