Wellness Expert-Author Promotes Partnerships,
Participation and Practical Application
For Nisha Jackson, Ph.D. M.S., W.H.C.N.P., health is more about natural balance than it is pharmaceutical relief or quick-fix medicinal treatments that merely scratch the surface of wellness. In fact, the past 15 years of research and personal patient care have proven her right. While many physicians suggest that certain symptoms are normal, psychosomatic, or just something patients must learn to live with, Nisha is convinced otherwise and offers patients the help and hope they have searched for.
With a correct diagnosis, proper education and a caring partnership between patient and provider, Nisha says equilibrium and health can be fully restored. In her practice with mostly female patients, Nisha first measures hormone levels. Based on the results, she introduces lifestyle modification techniques, over-the-counter supplements or natural hormone replacements to restore equilibrium and good health.
“Restoring balance is a process that can take time and requires the patient’s full participation, but the results have been remarkable,” Nisha explains. “My job is to identify the imbalance and provide practical methods the patients can use to help themselves.”
Nisha’s passion for women’s health began in 1991 when she realized that female patients were desperate to manage hot flashes, PMS, low libido, menstrual anomalies and other hormone-related symptoms. These women, she says, were stressed out, depressed, overweight, anxious and oftentimes hopeless. “With diet, exercise and individualized hormonal treatments, women who were fatigued and feeling older than their age started to feel their absolute best!”
Nisha is a gynecological practitioner with a master’s degree in nursing and a doctorate in healthcare management. She is a certified hormone expert and has seen more than 15,000 patients for hormone abnormalities in her Medford-based specialty practice. She is the founder and owner of Ventana Wellness, PC, a private practice dedicated to disease prevention, primary care and hormonal health. The Wellness center’s many professional providers share Nisha’s health care philosophies and training.
Nisha is also the founder of Body Analysis Clinic, a comprehensive health program that utilizes a team of health professionals in the prevention of diabetes, obesity and hormone disorders. She is a practicing partner of Medford Women’s Clinic, and founder and owner of Rogue Endocrinology and Metabolic Clinic.
In addition to her practice, Nisha has established an online hormone consulting service, Hormones in Balance, which enables anyone with a computer and a telephone to receive hormone testing and one-on-one consultation and testing, regardless of their location. She is also a TV personality, national lecturer, motivational speaker and host of a weekly live radio wellness program, now in its seventh year.
“Nisha,” as she is known to her patients and radio audience, has authored two books: “The Hormone Survival Guide to Perimenopause—How to Balance Your Hormones Naturally” and “Surviving the Teenage Hormone Takeover—A Guide for Moms,” which was released in October 2006.
Surviving the Teenage Hormone Takeover offers easy-to-understand principles and specific guidelines to stabilize mother-daughter relationships as they learn to manage hormones together. According to Nisha, being a teen girl today is different than a decade or more ago. Therefore, mothers are smart to lead their teens to vibrant health, happiness and harmony. With proper treatment and the support of a committed parent, these teens can overcome depression, irritability, acne, weight gain and other symptoms related to puberty and adolescents.
“Primary care emphasizing hormonal health has proven to work for both women and teenage girls,” Nisha says. “With the right partnership, participation and practical application, every female can feel better,
look better and be better.” ■
