Nestled in downtown Portland is an architectural treasure, formerly the building that housed Lipman’s Department Store and then the retailer Frederick and Nelson, this jewel built in 1912 and lovingly renovated, is now the luxurious 5th Avenue Suites Hotel. San Francisco designer Michael Booth took advantage of the original soaring ceilings and picture windows of the lobby and replaced molded plaster and wood in the ceiling to imitate that of the original store.
Other details throughout this downtown hotel keep with the architectural preservation so prevalent throughout Portland. A unique boutique hotel where nearly all of the rooms are suites, warm colors, stripes, and floral prints adorn the 10-story property’s 550-square-foot rooms.
