Award-Winning Wooden Boats…

Award-Winning Wooden Boats Offer Precision and Power
For Chris Casparis, the Sea Sonic Boat Company is where tradition meets technology and creativity blends with functionality. It is where boat-building artists design and construct seaworthy vessels that exude classic elegance and grace, along with extreme power and performance well beyond the norm.
Casparis is the owner and inspiration behind Sea Sonic Boats. Over the years, this designer and expert boat builder has made his mark on the industry, becoming recognized for his style and securing multiple awards for his models of excellence.
For example, Casparis’ fully restored Riva Ariston Desafinado has earned first place in various boat shows for the past nine years. Recently, Casparis designed and built his own Classic Style Runabout, incorporating his love and experience with wooden boats, his fascination of the future, a leaning toward high quality natural materials and unmatched technical expertise.
Casparis has a long list of boats he has restored and repaired, including numerous yachts and cabin cruisers. “Boat building is not just a business,” Casparis explained. “It is a passion that grows from year to year. While I am prone to think modern, I also retain the most precious traditional aspects of wooden boats in my designs. Ultimately, Sea Sonic Boats are built, beautified and finished with precision and perfection as the ideal.”
Clients of Sea Sonic Boats have come to recognize the distinct personalities of the firm’s vessels. They also appreciate and admire the sleek lines, elegance and strength offered by the multi-layered armored marine plywood that is enforced with carbon Kevlar on a solid mahogany frame construction. To the visible eye, solid mahogany is accented by lackluster custom chrome and stainless that combine for a striking example of unlimited quality.
Unlike traditional wooden boats made of planks that tend to shrink and expand, Sea Sonic Boats are durable. They are also guaranteed to be watertight, weather and saltwater resistant and nearly maintenance free, thanks to the cold molded epoxy techniques and numerous layers of epoxy and UV protectant polyurethane. “With our exact construction and exterior protection, owners of Sea Sonic Boats only need soapy water to keep their vessels ship shape,” said Casparis. “We do the work when we build the boats so our clients can fully enjoy their use.”
The 28.5-foot Sea Sonic Centaur seats up to eight people comfortably and features quality craftsmanship throughout, including inlaid Canadian white maple, top-of-the-line upholstery, built-ins, a glass deck hatch that allows air and light to enter, among other highlights. The captain can take advantage of precision instrumentation, easy handling and the power and speed of two 496 HO-cubic-inch direct drive Mercruiser engines. Passengers can spend time at the wet bar, listen to music from the boat’s stereo system, take a break in the resting quarters, hang out at the large padded sunbathing area and get in and out of the water with ease using a stepped transome with chrome handrails. They can also take advantage of the hot and cold transome shower.
“I stand behind the design and construction of Sea Sonic Boats because their stability, performance and maneuverability at high speeds have been proven through time,” noted Casparis. “But with all the technology and the craftsmanship I incorporate into my boats, I truly consider the needs and the wants of the clients when designing and building boats. In the end, their satisfaction is what matters most.” ■
