Lavishly Appointed Runabout Doubles as a Performance Marvel
At 24’ 7” one might expect the Sunscape 247 to be limited in performance and handling compared to smaller boats in its class. But the 247 LSV, powered by the 400 hp Hammerhead 383 Stroker engine, is a performance marvel, carving out turns more aptly than boats a fraction of its size. The highly crafted interior offers 30 percent more cabin space than any boat in its class, with seating and storage for up to 16 people. Add the boat load of luxurious amenities that call this model home and this boat has more than earned the buzz it is creating.
This agile feel of the Sunscape 247 LSV originates from the same technology that gives Malibu’s World champion skiers the edge on the slalom course and pro wakeboarders a rock solid pull. Malibu’s Instantaneous Response Technology (IRT), combines zero-friction throttle cables, rack and pinion steering, a precisely crafted V25 hull, a CNC propeller, an adjustable rudder and a pair of Gorilla Fins. These components working together allow the Sunscape 247 LSV to slice through the choppiest of water ways, properly respond to even the smallest steering and throttle changes and hold a perfectly straight line with or without a rider in tow. Self control may be lost at the sight of this new Malibu, but the driver will recover on the water.
The Sunscape 247 LSV motors off the factory floor with more than 400 horses under the hatch for 2006. The most powerful 6.2L small-block V8 ever developed for inboard use, the Hammerhead 383 cranks out 400 horse power and 420 foot-pounds of torque. Capped with Malibu’s exclusive intake plenum, the new Hammerhead sports Indmar’s high-flow multi-port induction system, GM’s famed FastBurn aluminum heads and an aggressive Indmar-spec cam combined with 1.6:1 roller rockers for less friction, more power. Indmar’s ETX performance exhaust manifolds and Indmar’s custom ECM calibration make this engine almost as exciting as the boat itself.
Precision Pro Speed Control comes standard on the entire 2007 Malibu model line-up including the Sunscape 247 LSV. Developed by Malibu engineers to bring easy-to-use accurate speed control to the masses, Precision Pro Speed Control takes the guess work and frustration out of maintaining a constant speed on the water. And it can be clearly monitored via the LCD Graphical Dash Display.
An Engaging Interior
The 2007 Sunscape 247 LSV interior is as engaging as it is comfortable. This model comes standard with a the new Sony MEX-1GP with one gig of memory in the detachable face, eight 6-inch Rockford Fosgate speakers, a remote and a handy MP3 input for digital music auxiliary. Malibu is offering Rockford Fosgate speakers exclusively and placed them precisely throughout the interior to shower every inch of the Sunscape 247 LSV with premium sound. Malibu has even developed a backseat entertainment console to house two Rockford Fosgate speakers and an optional remote for passenger control of the tunes. And if the music doesn’t pull everyone in, then the LCD Graphical Dash Display will to do the trick.
The LCD Graphical Dash Display acts as a window into the 247 LSV and demands attention with its center-mounted position, size and clarity. The Film-compensated Super Twisted Nematic (FSTN) display is one of the most recent advances in graphical displays. It allows for higher contrast and greater viewing angles. Owners can gather all of the information they need about their boat and its components in an eye-shot. Not only can they monitor ballast levels in certain models and Precision Pro Speed Control, they can also keep track of almost any other boat system information.
With standard amenities like a flip-up bolster seat, hand-wrapped dash and chromed billet dash insert and switch panels, drivers are completely surrounded by the elements of Malibu excellence. And passengers can’t help but experience their own version of premium quality and superior design. Tucked into the side panels of the Sunscape 247 LSV’s expansive lounge are two beverage bays each standard with five 32-ounce stainless steel cup holders, a 12-volt power source, a Rockford Fosgate speaker and a decorative chrome accent with a backlit Malibu logo. Those 10 stainless steel cup holders join another eight others stragtegically placed throughout the Sunscape 247 LSV, not to mention the four cup holders located in the boats removable table.
No matter where anyone is seated they will be pampered by this interior. The cushions are stuffed with tri-ply foam for the multiple densities of comfort and amazing bounce-back capability. The 38 ounce G&T Marine vinyl which covers this interior is soft to the touch, but durable enough to revel in the rigors of marine use. And when Malibu promises head to toe comfort they aren’t kidding. The new premium 32 ounce polypropylene heat set carpeting will pamper even the most sensitive feet.
Convenient Cargo Space
More volume on the interior of the boat normally equates to more storage, but Malibu designers have truly examined the subtleties of storage dynamics to create the most convenient and usable cargo areas possible. This intuitive use of space in the Sunscape 247 LSV comes in the form of above-engine and above-transmission storage bins. These tubs are perfect for keeping towels, rash guards, wet suits toasty and an occasional hot meal warm. The Sunscape 247 LSV also hosts 37-cubic feet of
rear storage and expansive cargo cavities beneath almost every seating area.
The Sunscape 247 LSV, like most tow boats, comes standard with ice chest storage. What makes this Malibu so unique is the fact that it is the only boat in its class to offer two ice chests totaling more than 120 quarts of cold storage. Two ice chests give passengers the option to separate food and beverages, different kinds of drinks or simply use one ice chest strictly for drinking ice. Malibu versatility doesn’t discriminate, no matter how common the feature might seem.
Turning Heads
All 24 feet, 7 inches of this boat is sculpted with chiseled body lines and flawless gel coat design. Buyers can choose from 20 vibrant gel coat colors when they are designing their new Sunscape 24 LSV. Even the stainless steel exterior emblems have been incorporated into the overall flow of the boat composition to make this model a complete package of consistent design. The exterior also plays host to functional styling cues like stainless steel rub rail with through holes. Along with all of the other design goals Malibu engineers made sure the Sunscape 247 LSV is a sight to behold.
