Chauffer-Driven Sedan gets a Test Drive in Dubai

Referred to as a masterpiece of engineering, safety and design, the Maybach 62 S is one of the world’s most powerful chauffeur-driven saloons in series production. Following the success of the Maybach 57 S, the 62 S is the fourth and latest model to join the Maybach range of luxury automobiles, offering extreme comfort with dynamic sports car-like handling.

maybach_mid2.jpgThe S in the model designation stands for “Special,” and with good reason since it is a step above in its class. Affluent and influential people favor the Maybach’s appearance and performance, including the ruler of Dubai, the fourth richest man in the world. “You shouldn’t take small steps if you want to achieve something great,” says Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who travels the streets in the desert city of Dubai as a passenger in a 62 S.

Engineered in the manufacturing workshops in Sindelfingen and designed primarily to be chauffeur driven, the Maybach 62 S sets new standards at the high end of the passenger car industry. The vehicle also continues the tradition of legendary Wilhelm Maybach and Karl Maybach, father and son who represented the elite in German and international car manufacturers of the 1920s and 1930s.

The Maybach 62 S has a 12-cylinder, 612-horsepower engine with a twin turbocharger. It accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in only 5.2 seconds, demonstrating its power, speed and outstanding performance. The vehicle’s interior incorporates coordinated applications of exquisite piano lacquer sporty and high-grade leather and hand-finished materials that highlight the vehicle’s generously proportioned rear compartment and gives the 62 S a distinctive, elegant look. With some of the highest standards in terms of space and comfort, passengers can expect a truly relaxing and comfortable ride.maybach_mid1.jpg

A modified front end with a re-designed radiator grille and 20-inch spoked wheels differentiate the 62 S from the standard 62 model. Like the 57 S, the Maybach 62 S features lavish single-tone paintwork in black or silver, exclusively for the S models. Customers also have the option to paint their luxury vehicle in shimmering white.

Discreet 62 S lettering adorns the front wings beneath the A-pillars and the boot lid, while a modified rear apron with two integral, trapezoidal exhaust tailpipes hints strongly at the immense performance potential of the 62 S. ¦
